Music
At Hollycroft Primary School, Music is taught using the Charanga Creative Scheme, which provides a progressive and engaging curriculum for all pupils. This approach allows children to develop their musical knowledge and skills through listening, performing, composing and appraising a wide range of music.
Through Charanga’s structured lessons, pupils explore rhythm, pitch, melody and musical notation while building confidence in singing, playing instruments and working collaboratively. The Creative Scheme supports a clear progression of musical learning across all year groups.
To support learning beyond the classroom, pupils can also access Yumu, Charanga’s online learning platform. Yumu allows children to revisit songs, practise musical skills and explore creative activities at home, helping to strengthen their musical understanding and enthusiasm for music.
Our aim is for pupils to develop a love of music, express themselves creatively and gain the confidence to participate in musical experiences both in school and beyond.
